Judy has been an editor and executive in educational publishing since 1977. Judy has developed best-selling products for all levels of the K-12 market including textbooks, activity programs, and multimedia. A graduate of Brooklyn College with a degree in history and education, Judy says that she "has worked on more textbook projects than she'll ever be able to remember."

people-nmandelkern.jpgNick Mandelkern, Co-Founder
Nick has worked in the educational publishing business since 1983, as a writer, editor, marketer, manager, and executive. He has developed materials in all kinds of media, including textbooks, trade books, video, audio material, software, and CD-ROM. Nick's educational background includes a BA in history from Yale University and an MBA from New York University. His three school-age children give him lots of in-house feedback on our projects.

people-areingold.jpgAdam Reingold, Marketing Consultant
Adam spends his days, and unfortunately his nights, thinking of engaging new products and unique business strategies for the educational and consumer product markets. He has over 15 years of experience in educational publishing as a writer, editor, and marketing executive. His media adventures include founding www.CivCity.com, the internet's first children's community featuring interactions with great historical characters, as well as serving as producer for PBS's the Charlie Rose Show. He is also a children's book writer on subjects as diverse as river ecology and classical ballet. Adam's early, early mornings are spent along New York's East River, walking his family dog and admiring the tugboats steaming by.

people-gaccardi.jpgGia Accardi, Reading/Language Arts Editorial Specialist
Gia brings a wealth of experience, skill, knowledge, and organization to a wide array of educational publishing projects. She has written for, edited, and managed several dozen textbooks and ancillaries—student and teacher editions both. While her background and the bulk of her experience is in vocabulary, the writing process, reading comprehension, and other Reading/Language Arts areas, Gia has also produced materials in such diverse subject matters as Social Studies, Science, and Math, as well as activities for English learners. She has also written two books—A Word from the Wise: Great Speeches and False! Popular Myths Debunked—both published in 2010.

people-ssheinkin.jpgSteve Sheinkin, Writer
Steve has been at SSP since 1998. He is currently writing Storyteller's History, a series of American history books dedicated to the goal of proving to kids that history is actually exciting (they never believe it when you just tell them). As a key member of our editorial team, he is always on the lookout for writers and new project ideas that share this same goal. Steve is also the author and illustrator of the Rabbi Harvey graphic novel series.

people-jrudolph.jpgJessica Rudolph, Supervising Editor
Jessica has been an editor for Summer Street Press since 2000. Before that, she worked as an assistant editor for a financial magazine and worked retail as a bookseller. She graduated from SUNY Purchase. She enjoys having a job that actually puts her history degree to good use.

people-miriamaronin.jpgMiriam Aronin, Senior Project Editor
Before joining Summer Street Press in 2004, Miriam was a teacher and curriculum developer. She is a graduate of Brandeis University and has a master's degree in history from the University of North Carolina. When not editing or writing, Miriam might be found dancing or trying out Summer Street Press products as a volunteer literacy instructor for schoolchildren.
